Midterm — Do X-Men covers speaks?

For my midterm project, I focus on the question: How often do Uncanny X-Men covers “speak,” and does cover speech coincide with the imagery?Click on the following link to check out my midterm project! https://midterm.har.sites.carleton.edu/do-x-men-covers-speaks/

  1. This is a really interesting project!I really like your design of the website. Your finding that more characters don’t necessarily mean more text is a fantastic and counter-intuitive insight. It strongly suggests that the X-Men’s iconic status is built on powerful, silent visuals, which is a great point. I agree with your reflection in the significance section, acknowledging what the data can’t capture, like the visual “loudness” of a word balloon.

  2. I don’t really know anything about the X-Men, so I found this project really interesting! I find it funny because I don’t need to know anything about X-Men to know what you are investigating. The perspective on how “speaking” is the point of interest is not something I would have considered, and you are right. The cover definitely does set the vibe for something you are about to read!
